Veterinarian
Dr. Trish Hessel was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, and lived in Colorado, Louisiana, Virginia, and Alaska while growing up. She graduated from Iowa State University where she met her husband, Brad, through collegiate athletics. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law. She and her husband moved to Houston, Texas, so that Brad could work with the Space Shuttle program. After working for about 10 years in the legal industry, she attended veterinary school at Texas A&M University where she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She obtained her Veterinary Hospice and Palliative Care Certification in 2022. She will obtain her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture in Spring 2025 from Chi University. She is excited to combine Eastern and Western medicine for her patients! Dr. Hessel’s professional interests include preventative care, geriatric medicine, pain management, end-of-life care, and traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. In her free time, she volunteers as a Pastoral Visitor for the Catholic Chaplain Corps in the Houston Medical Center and coaches Special Olympics for the Houston Express. She enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews. Dr. Hessel and her husband share their home with a Great Dane, Giant Panda, a Beagle, Leo, a Chihuahua mix, Bug, and 3 cats, Tiggey, Spikey, and Butterball.
